Construction Updates:
Construction projects will be occurring during the upcoming months which may require the rerouting of pedestrian & vehicular traffic – please heed to all signage.

Deliveries and load-in activity will occur in the back of G-Wing.

Analysis for Combined Heat & Power (Co-Generation)
Project Description:
The project entails the analysis of a co-generation facility to produce combined heat and power (CHP). The system will produce two (2) forms of usable energy from one power source - electric and heat. The engineer on this project is an SBE professional consultant.

Project Update:
The engineer has forwarded the College its report on the feasibility of this project.  Discussions with AtlantiCare Medical Center and the Betty Bacharach Rehabilitation Center for partnering in this endeavor are ongoing.  The facility would provide chilled water and electrical power to the AtlantiCare Medical Center and electrical power to the College.

Athletic Fields at Pomona Road
Project Description:
A synthetic grass athletic field will be constructed adjacent to the existing baseball/softball fields along Port Republic Road. The project will also include lighting, parking and storage.

Project Update:
Construction for this project began in September.  Installation of field drainage piping is complete, storm water manholes are in place, stabilization and hydro seeding of the basin are complete, installation of the concrete perimeter turf club and chain link fence posts have begun and the signed and sealed foundation shop drawings for the grandstands, scoreboard and light poles were issued to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) for approval.  Construction is anticipated to be completed in early 2010.

Building 10 – Romanoff House Improvements
Project Description:
This project consists the analysis of the existing building to bring it up to code for future occupancy. A second building which would be brought to the location from another site is also included in the site improvement plan.

Project Update:
The College received  the architectural firm's building analysis and site improvement plan for this property.  Upon final review and comments of the building analysis by the College, the consultant will submit a final report.

Campus Center
Project Description:
The Campus Center Building will include food service, event and dining facilities, as well as lounges, offices, Student and Campus Center offices, meeting rooms, a small theater and facility support. The project’s construction has been split into two (2) phases in order to establish an orderly and efficient schedule. The phases include the following:

Phase I Site Development:
This phase of work encompasses the preparation of the site for the footprint of the new building and staging areas. It also included the installation of gas, electric, sewer and storm water utilities required to support the new structure. This phase of the project is complete.

Phase II Construction:
This phase of the project encompasses the actual construction of the building. Construction has commenced and it is anticipated that completion will occur during winter 2011.

Phase II Project Update:
The building's perimeter concrete footings and walls are complete, as well as the interior concrete footings.  The concrete flooring on the 2nd floor is nearing completion and the theatre floor has been poured.  Waterproofing of the exterior walls and the placement of the building's steel continues.  Construction of the building is scheduled for completion in 2011.

Campus-Wide Signage
Project Description:
This project consists of (6) new signs, Sign Type I – one (1) main sign at the main entrance; Sign Type I – Three (3) monument signs; and, Sign Type III – two (2) LED signs for posting college activities, special events and police emergency messages. These signs will be strategically placed throughout the campus to aid and inform the College Community and visitors entering and exiting the campus.

Project Update:
The College awarded a contract for  Phase I of this project.  A mock-up of the signs and color selections were presented to the College for its review.  The digital display boards were ordered and will be shipped the end of November.  Signed and sealed foundation shop drawings were issued to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) for approval.  Installation of the foundations began early November.  It is anticipated that this project will be completed in late fall 2009.

C/D-Wing Courtyard Renovations
Project Description:
The C/D-Wing courtyard will enclose approximately 4,000 square feet of existing exterior courtyard to provide an indoor 2-story atrium off the main gallery between C and D-Wings.

Project Update:
This project is currently in the design phase.  The project was submitted to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) for permitting purposes.  Bidding for this project will take place 2009 with a fall 2010 completion.

Clean Energy Audit Program
Project Description:
This project would consist of an energy audit on existing lights, motors, boilers and chillers at both Stockton’s on and off-campus facilities. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities has authorized an incentive program to subsidize a portion of the cost to various New Jersey agencies who have applied and been selected to participate in the program.

Project Update:
The College is in the final phase of the audit application.  Following a final review, the application was submitted to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. 

College Walk Reconstruction
Project Description:
This project would renew and/or replace College Walk into an inviting pedestrian space.

Project Update:
College administrators have reviewed all the design proposals and a contract will be awarded in the near future for this project.  The project is scheduled to commence construction in fall 2010 with an anticipated completion date of spring 2012. 

L-Wing Renovation
Project Description:
The College has hired an architect to design the adaptive re-use/renovation of the L-Wing swimming pool area into academic and administrative space along with a 2-story art gallery.  The area will also house tiered classrooms, The William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy and the Affirmative Action and Ethical Standards offices.

Project Update:
The project in the design phase and has been submitted to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for its permitting purposes.   Bidding for this project will take place December 2009 with an anticipated completion date of fall 2012.

Housing I, Housing V – North & West Parking Lots Photovoltaic Array/ARRA Grant
Project Description:
The College was awarded $3,464,599 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.  Stockton's project was one of seven approved State-wide and the largest from a college or university.  The project will entail the installation of Photovoltaic panel arrays on a portion of the parking lot in Housing I as well as the North & West Parking Lots located in Housing V. This total size of this array is 1,097 kWh and will provide the College with a reduced rate for electrical power and exemplify the College’s ongoing commitment to becoming New Jersey’s GREEN College.

Project Update:
The College and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities have initiated the development/execution of the grant agreement required to proceed with activities in the College's grant proposal.  It is anticipated that this project will be completed summer 2010.

Plant Management Storage Facility
Project Description:
Removal of the existing small and out-dated storage sheds in the Plant Management storage yard will be replaced with pre-engineered secured storage facilities.  For cost purposes, the proposal was divided into two (2) parts.  The 1st part consisted of the schematic design phase/Pinelands Commission review.  The 2nd phase incorporates the remainder of the design and specification production for bidding purposes.

Project Update:
Plant Management has begun the process of replacing storage sheds and trailers.  To date, over forty (40) trailers and their contents have been eliminated.  An agreement between the engineer has been reached to move forward with Phase I, schematic design review and Pinelands Commission review.

Signalized Intersection (Traffic Light)
Project Description:
An engineer has been retained and has submitted a design for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Jimmie Leeds Road, and Vera King Farris Drive at the main academic entrance of the campus. The design includes technical design services for the planning and specification development to reconstruct the intersection and include the installation of a traffic signal and required right-of-way acquisitions, if required. Additionally, the design includes roadway widening, utility coordination, geometric revisions, drainage improvements, signage, resurfacing the intersection and the required environmental permits. This traffic signal will abate increasingly serious life/safety issues that currently exist at this intersection.

Project Update:
The College and the Atlantic County Traffic Engineering Department reviewed the drawings submitted by the engineer.  This project was presented to the Galloway Township Planning Board as a courtesy at their November meeting.  Bids for this project will be advertised in mid-November and it is anticipated that a construction contract will be awarded in early January 2010.

Unified Science Center
Project Description:
This project consists of a four-story building to provide facilities that will support the College’s Science Programs. It will include wet and dry teaching and research laboratories, support facilities, chemical and general storage facilities, shop support and preparation rooms to support Natural Science and Mathematics Programs. The project also includes the site work, furnishings and equipment.

Project Update:
The project is currently in the schematic design phase.  The architect is working on revisions to the drawings to reflect changes and comments brought about following a meeting with the Chemistry and Biology staff.  A meeting was held in November to review the value engineering items.

Solar Projects:

  1. Arts & Sciences Building Photovoltaic (Solar Panels) Upgrade:  The College moved forward with the replacement and/or upgrades of the existing solar panels located on the Arts & Sciences Building rooftop. 
     
  2. Parking Lot #7 Photovoltaic (Solar Panels) Upgrade: Solar panels have been installed across a substantial portion of the parking lot, thus providing covered parking those areas and exemplifying the College's commitment to going GREEN.
     
  3. Sports Center Photovoltaic (Solar Panels):  Solar panels were installed on top of the athletic facility and will assist in defraying the College's cost of electrical power..
