Career Center at Stockton College

WELCOME PARENTS!

Welcome to Stockton's Career Center. Whether your student is a freshman at Stockton, or is preparing to graduate, we hope our office will be a valuable resource in their search for a career, a job or advanced education. We encourage you to take a look at the services that we offer.

THE UNDECIDED STUDENT
Many students are undecided about their academic major when they first enter college. Others are still uncertain about their options as they approach graduation.

Our staff advises students to consider majors and careers that match their interests and academic skills. Self-assessment tools are an excellent way to identify strengths and recognize skills, interests, values and personality traits. FOCUS is our computer-based career exploration and self-assessment program.

In addition, Career Key provides a list of additional career exploration resources that may be useful in helping your student find that perfect career.

  • Encourage your student to visit our office during their first semester on campus to learn about the services of the Career Center.
  •  Discuss various career opportunities with your student, including what you do
professionally and introduce your student to people in various career fields
  • Recommend that your student obtain career-related work experience before graduation via internships and part-time jobs. CareerConnect offers opportunities to Stockton students, as do various faculty members and preceptors.
  •  Have your student develop an effective resume and cover letter, and practice good interviewing techniques - the Career Center can aid in the process.
