Academic Advising at Richard Stockton College

Prospective Students

The Center for Academic Advising helps facilitate the admission process into Stockton. Our advising staff is here to answer your questions about the academic program of your choice.

Freshmen:

If you are a freshmen accepted for the spring 2010 term, you will register for classes in January of 2010. Faculty and staff advisors will make sure you are placed in appropriate classes. A typical schedule for a freshman would be:

  1. A W1 (writing intensive) class.
  2. A freshman seminar (part of your General Studies requirement)
  3. A Q1 class (quantitative reasoning/math) class
  4. A beginning class in your major, or another General Studies course.

An emphasis will be placed helping you understand Stockton’s curriculum. If you would like to learn more about Stockton’s curriculum, please check out our Curriculum pages.

Transfer Students

The Center for Academic Advising welcomes questions from potential transfer students. You are welcome to call us at 609-652-4504 with your questions or schedule an appointment for a transcript evaluation. We ask that you bring transcripts with you to your appointment. Unofficial transcripts with grades will suffice.

If you are transferring from a community college in New Jersey, you may wish to consult www.njtransfer.org to see how your credits will be placed into Stockton’s curriculum.

Transfer students accepted for Fall 2008 will register for classes in late July. Advisers in each major will help you select appropriate classes based on the types of courses that you transferred.
