Institute for Faculty Development

Welcome

The Institute for Faculty Development (IFD) at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is a resource to support effective pedagogy and productive scholarship for all faculty members. The IFD works with faculty to develop services and resources to assist them in the pursuit of their goals for excellence in teaching, research, and service. Assessment of student learning is inexorably linked to good teaching, as the former is a measure of the latter. The Institute for Faculty Development conducts workshops and offers in-house resources on teaching, learning, and the assessment of student learning.

Spring 2012 has been a time of giving from the administration to the Institute, and thereby to the faculty, in terms of faculty development. Please see an MOA describing newly reinvisioned Faculty Institute Fellows and a call for applications for the 2012-2013 academic year for any faculty interested in and qualifed for such service.

Commonly desired resources include the following:

Faculty Handbook

Midterm Evaluation of Teaching information and form

End of Term Student Evaluations of Teaching Resources (MOA, directions for students, directions for entering objectives in portal, links to IDEA resources for selecting objectives and interpreting data)

Teaching Observations (Stockton procedures, advice, sample teaching observation)

Links to resources about Managing Academic Life

Resources on Faculty Personnel files (1st year, second year, third year, tenure up now; five year reviews and promotion coming), including writing a c.v. and a teaching philosophy statement
