Our Stockton

Words by Stephen Dunn,
winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and
Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Creative Writing

Let us travel in the footsteps of those who came before,

Here on our campus in the pines, knowledge opens every door.

And when we go marching out into the world beyond our Stockton

at ease with art and science; let's sing of all we've thought and done.

Knowledge leads to knowledge and our Stockton has shown the way.

Oh, let us be among those for whom Stockton has shown the way.

We've debated and we've questioned,

now we are marching toward a future that is certain to be uncertain.

Our education has just begun.

Marching out to serve and achieve, our tassels turned,

let us proudly strive to be an example of what we've learned.

Oh, let us be among those for whom Stockton has shown the way.

Oh, let us be among those for whom Stockton has shown the way.
