Abad Akhtar

Results
Richard Stockton junior Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) finished 180th out of 276 runners in the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championship, which was hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College (OH). After running as high as fifth place in the first few miles, Akhtar posted a time of 27:22.70 in the eight-kilometer race as he was hampered by a tight quad muscle caused by a slip in some mud on the course.

Akhtar was just the second Stockton cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Championship and first since Randy Wetzel who reached the NCAA meet in 2000 and 2002. Akhtar earned USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honors last week, won three races and registered five top-ten finishes, including the three race victories, during the 2009 season.
