Women Second, Men Sixth at Season-Opening CTC Relays

Richard Stockton opened the indoor track & field season by competing in the Collegiate Track Conference Relay Carnival at Yale University. The Stockton women finished second out of 11 teams with 34 points while the Stockton men’s team placed sixth of nine squads with 23 points. All-American Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) won the high jump with an NCAA provisional-qualifying height of 1.69 meters.

Victoria Barden (Bayville/Central) finished second in the high jump (1.57m) followed by Heather Gearity (Rutherford/ Rutherford) in third place (1.52m) as Stockton swept the top three spots. The Osprey quartet of Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook), Nicole Salge (Spotswood/ Spotswood), Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) and Aliya Simnor (New Monmouth/ Mater Dei) earned second place in the 4x800 relay (10:31.82).

Wes Warriner (Pleasantville/Holy Spirit) led the Stockton men’s team by finishing second in the shot put (13.62m) and third in the weight throw (14.32m). The Ospreys also placed third in the distance medley (10:59.40) with Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City), Alex Bruno (Voorhees/Eastern), Rich O’Connor (Bloomfield/St. Peter’s Prep) and Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) running the race for Stockton.
