Stockton Women Fourth, Men Fifth at Thomson Invitational

The Richard Stockton women’s indoor track & field team placed fourth and the Stockton men finished fifth in the Division II/III bracket of the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware today. Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) won the women’s 3000m run (11:11.10) and Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) won the men’s high jump (1.98m) for the Ospreys.

Stockton earned three second-place finishes in women’s individual events. Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) finished second in the pole vault (3.45m) while Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) placed second in the weight throw (14.26m) and Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/ Mainland) was second in the 1000m run (3:07.01). For the Stockton men’s team, Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) finished second in the 400m dash (50.84 seconds) and Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) was second in the 5000m run (15:47.32).

The Ospreys also placed second in each 4x800 relay (8:31.75 men/10:23.17 women). The men’s quartet consisted of Akhtar, Matt Ardelean (Margate/Atlantic City), Alex Bruno (Voorhees/Eastern) and Nate George (Galloway/Absegami). The Stockton women’s foursome was Evangelist, Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook), Nicole Salge (Spotswood/Spotswood) and Barbara Prokopiuk (Jackson/Jackson).
