Richard Stockton (1-1) opened the 2010 season with a dramatic 11-10 upset of eighth-ranked Shenandoah (VA) (0-1) in Myrtle Beach. Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) stroked a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to cap a three-run rally in the inning. Chris Discher (Cherry Hill/CH West) and Jason Gordon (Moorestown/Cherry Hill West) each knocked three hits while Asta was 2-4 with three RBI and Mike Wasco (Riverside/ Riverside) was 2-4 with a two-run homer.

Gordon led off the ninth with a single and scored an unearned run. With two outs, Discher reached base on a dropped third strike that advanced Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) to second. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Asta singled to score Wedding and Discher, completing the three-run comeback as the Ospreys triumphed 11-10.

Stockton later fell to Bates (ME) (3-0) 3-1 in the second game of the day for the Ospreys. Discher and Wedding registered two hits apiece in the game, but Stockton was held to just six hits overall. Bates scored an unearned run in the third inning and added two more insurance runs in the sixth for the 3-1 final score.
