STOCKTON TO CREATE ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME

Hall of Fame nomination form
Richard Stockton College will begin celebrating its athletic tradition and success by creating the Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame. Stockton will use the Hall of Fame to recognize the achievements of its athletic programs, which have competed on the intercollegiate and intramural/club levels since the early 1970’s. The first class of honorees, which is yet to be determined, is slated for induction in October.

The Hall of Fame will honor former Stockton student-athletes, coaches, teams and staff members for their distinguished accomplishments. “We feel that the time has come to begin celebrating those individuals and teams who contributed to the rich history of Stockton athletics,” said Lonnie Folks, Director of Athletics & Recreation. “We want to embrace Stockton’s past and connect it to the present and future of our programs via the Hall of Fame.”

Nominations for the Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame are now being accepted, with a deadline of June 1 for the initial Hall of Fame class. Guidelines and nomination forms can be found via the Hall of Fame link on the Stockton athletics website.

Stockton’s history of athletic success is highlighted by its winning the 2001 NCAA Division III men’s soccer championship plus nine individual NCAA titles in track & field. The Osprey teams have won 19 New Jersey Athletic Conference crowns and made 40 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five trips to the Final Four.

Stockton athletics have grown over the years with the construction of G. Larry James Stadium and The Sports Center plus the addition of programs that have resulted in the athletic department currently offering 17 intercollegiate sports. An artificial surface field, slated to be completed this summer, will be the latest enhancement to Stockton Athletics and serve as the home field for the field hockey and lacrosse teams as well as some intramural sports.
