Game 1 / Game 2
Richard Stockton (11-10, 1-2 NJAC) split a doubleheader against William Paterson in the NJAC home opener for the Ospreys. Stockton took the opener 6-5 on Barry Larro’s (Cedarville/Cumberland) walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning before the Pioneers came back to win the nightcap 7-6 in 14 innings. Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) had five hits in nine at bats in the twinbill.

In game one, Stockton took a 5-2 lead highlighted by Jason Gordon’s (Brick/Brick Memorial) two-RBI single and Larro’s first RBI of the game. The Pioneers tied the game with three runs in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Wedding singled and moved to second on a groundout. Larro then singled, scoring Wedding for the game-winner. John Lightbody (Toms River/TR East) picked up the win in relief. Wedding stroked three hits followed by Larro and Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) with two safeties apiece.

Stockton held a 6-4 lead in the nightcap until the Pioneers tied it in the eighth inning again. William Paterson scored two runs on two hits and took advantage of three Osprey errors to send it to extra frames. After four scoreless extra innings, the Pioneers broke through with a run in the top of the 14th and edged Stockton 7-6. Gordon and Nick Scalise (Northfield/ Mainland) each tallied two hits, a run and an RBI while Wedding also stroked two hits.
