Richard Stockton (4-3, 0-1) opened Skyline Conference play and had its three-game winning streak broken at the hands of Kean University (8-4, 2-0), who dominated the Ospreys 11-2. Josh Dybus (Lyndhurst/St. Peter’s Prep) scored his team-leading 26th goal of the season and Brendan McCarthy (Howell/Howell) tallied the other Osprey goal. Stockton goalkeeper Pete Marcelliano (Morristown/West Morris Mendham) kicked out 10 saves in taking the loss.

The turning point in the contest came in the first period when the Cougars hit the back of the net four times in a span of just 2:53, giving Kean a 6-1 lead after the quarter. McCarthy netted Stockton’s goal with 2:04 left in the first period but Stockton did not score again until the fourth quarter when Dybus tallied with just 2:18 left in the game to snap a scoreless drought for the Ospreys that lasted nearly three full periods.
