Ospreys Win Six Events at Delaware Open

Richard Stockton won a total of six events to highlight its day at the University of Delaware Open, where there was no team scoring. Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) led the Stockton women’s team by winning the hammer throw (45.75m) and placing fourth in the discus (35.35m) plus fifth in the shot put (10.70m). Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) won the javelin with a personal-best throw (43.41m).

Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) won the pole vault (3.50m) and Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) took the high jump (1.58m) for the Ospreys. In men’s competition, Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) won the 5000m by 20 seconds (15:06.80) and Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) captured the high jump (1.93m) for Stockton.

Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) finished second in the 1500m (4:50.51) and joined Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/ Bound Brook), Nikki Stratton (Stratford/Sterling) and Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca) for third place in the 4x400 relay (4:04.59). Amanda Williams (Williamstown/Williamstown) tied third in the high jump (1.58m) on tiebreakers after the top four jumpers all finished at the same height.

For the Stockton men’s team, Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) finished third in the 400m hurdles (54.30 seconds), Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) placed third in the triple jump and Jack Stephenson (Woodbine/Ocean City) was third in the javelin (49.64m). Ryan Mazzeo (Marmora/Ocean City) tied for third in the pole vault (4.10m).
