Stockton Women Second, Men Fifth at CTC Championships

Richard Stockton finished second out of 17 teams in women’s competition and fifth out of 16 squads on the men’s side in the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championships at DeSales University. The Ospreys won a total of seven events, four women’s and three men’s. Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/ Hamilton West) won the 10,000m (39:16.06) while Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) took the high jump (1.70m) and Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) won the javelin (37.99m).

The quartet of Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland), Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./Oakcrest), Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook) and Barbara Prokopiuk (Jackson/ Jackson) won the 4x800 relay (9:58.71). In men’s competition, Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) won the 400m hurdles (53.96 seconds), Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) captured the high jump (1.97m) and Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) won the triple jump (14.08m).

Evangelist also placed second in the 1500m (4:48.61) and Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca) was second in the 400m hurdles (1:06.51). Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) finished second in the pole vault (3.35m) and Nikki Stratton (Stratford/Sterling) was second in the long jump (5.17m). Ryan Mazzeo (Marmora/Ocean City) placed second in the men’s pole vault and the 4x400 relay team of Rooks, Hammond, Chris Collins (Manahawkin/Southern) and Dan Hemmerlin (West Milford/West Milford) also finished second.
