Game 1 / Game 2
Richard Stockton (17-15, 7-7) extended its NJAC winning streak to three with a doubleheader sweep of New Jersey City (13-21, 2-13) by scores of 10-3 and 9-6. Marc Asta (Jackson/ Jackson Memorial) and Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) had five hits each in the sweep with Asta driving in seven runs on the day.

In the first game, the Ospreys exploded for seven runs in the first inning, sending 12 batters to the plate. Asta and Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) each knocked in two runs with singles, giving Gage Mick (Bridgeton/Cumberland) all the runs that he would need. Mick pitched seven innings allowing just two runs while striking out six Knights in picking up his first career victory.

The second game was a tight affair highlighted by clutch hits by Asta and Allen. Asta drove in the first run on a grounder after an Allen triple. In the fourth inning, Allen blasted a two-run homer to give Stockton a 3-0 lead. Asta struck again in the sixth as he doubled with two outs, driving in two more runs to give the Ospreys a 5-1 lead.

New Jersey City scored twice in the top of the seventh to cut the advantage to 5-3 but Stockton put the game away in the bottom of the eighth as Asta’s second two-run double of the game gave the Ospreys a 9-3 advantage. Joe Mihalyi (Hamilton/Nottingham) picked up the win, pitching the first seven innings. John Lightbody (Toms River/Toms River East) earned his second save of the year with two innings on the mound.
