Rooks & Shepherd Lead Ospreys at NJAC Championships

The Richard Stockton women's track & field team finished second and the Osprey men's team placed fourth in the NJAC Championships at College of New Jersey. Freshman Demetrius Rooks (Galloway/Absegami) was named Most Outstanding Male Athlete after winning the 400m (49.11 seconds) and 400m hurdles (53.34 seconds).

Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) was chosen Outstanding Female Field Athlete after winning the high jump for the fourth consecutive time. Shepherd’s best jump was a meet record, personal best and NCAA automatic qualifying mark (1.71m). Todd Curll was voted NJAC Women's Co-Coach of the Year for leading his squad to the runner-up finish at the conference meet.

Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) won the pole vault (3.70m) for the second straight year. Jill Shaner (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) won the javelin (43.16m) while Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) won the hammer throw (46.16m) and placed third in the shot put (11.45m). Kevin Miller (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) won the men's discus (47.58m) to complete the list of seven events won by Stockton.

Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) finished second in two events, the 5000m (19:15.55) and 10,000m (39:15.94). Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) kept busy by placing second in the 1500m (4:46.70) and 4x400 relay (4:07.47) plus third in the 800m (2:18.56). Nikki Stratton (Stratford/Sterling) finished second in the long jump (5.28m), ran a leg of the 4x400 relay and placed third in the 400m (1:00.56).
