Sixth-seeded Richard Stockton (20-19) downed third-seeded Staten Island (31-11) 5-1 in the first round of the ECAC Metro tournament. Stockton got eight hits from its first four hitters in the lineup in backing sophomore Bryan Frank’s (Toms River/ TR East) three-hit pitching. Frank tossed eight innings and struck out four in picking up his third victory of the year.

Trailing 1-0, Stockton broke open the game with three runs in the fourth inning as Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) smashed a double that scored two runs and Joe Farrell (Longport/Holy Spirit) earned an RBI on a squeeze bunt for all of the runs Frank would need. The Ospreys tacked on single runs in the seventh and ninth innings to secure the victory.

Chris Discher (Cherry Hill/CH West), Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial), Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) and Wasco collected two hits apiece for eight of the Ospreys’ 10 hits in the game. Wasco also drove in three runs while Asta scored twice in the 5-1 victory.
