Richard Stockton (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season as fifth-ranked Christopher Newport (3-0) edged the Ospreys 1-0 in the final game of the Christopher Newport Alumni Classic. Freshman goalkeeper Tim Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made his first college start and fared well with 11 saves against the highly-ranked Captains.

Christopher Newport outshot Stockton 24-7 in the match, but Brett and the Osprey defense kept the game scoreless until well into the second half. The Captains struck for the game-winner at 73:35 and Stockton could not respond despite pressuring for the tying goal down the stretch. Tom Parkinson (Old Bridge/Old Bridge), Kyle Evans (Seaville/Ocean City) and Chris Hayman (Pittsgrove/Schalick) accounted for Stockton’s three shots on goal in the game with one apiece.
