Stockton Wins Two of Three in Osprey Classic

Richard Stockton (5-2) played its first home matches of the season and won two out of three in the Osprey Classic. The Ospreys cruised to a 25-9, 25-12, 25-10 sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy in the first match of the day. Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) led the offense with nine kills, followed by Kasey Hennecke (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn) with seven kills. Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/Catasauqua) handed out 13 assists.

Stockton then fell to Haverford 25-18, 27-25, 25-15. Freshmen Hennecke and Nicole Serekian (Mahwah/Mahwah) slammed six kills apiece while Hausman finished with 22 assists and 11 digs. Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/Newfield) scooped a team-high 23 digs.

The Ospreys finished the day with a 25-12, 25-11, 23-25, 25-16 win over Ursinus. Velott and Serekian paced Stockton with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Freshman Mayan Alvarado (Gainesville, FL/P.K. Yonge) registered 24 assists and 13 digs while Hausman contributed 17 assists and 15 digs.
