Stockton Takes Third at the Stevens Ducks Classic

Richard Stockton won three out of four matches and finished third out of seven teams at the Stevens Ducks Classic. The Ospreys began with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-16 sweep of Oneonta State and then fell to Stevens 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-15. Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) led Stockton to victory over Oneonta with 10 kills and Tabitha Nejman (Runnemede/Our Lady of Mercy) added eight kills.

Against Stevens, Alex Galdi (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) tallied eight kills and Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/ Newfield) scooped 18 digs.

The tournament continued the next day as Stockton outlasted Elmira 25-15, 25-15, 21-25, 22-25, 15-9 and then swept St. Joseph’s-L.I. 25-13, 25-14, 25-11. Velott paced the Ospreys against Elmira with 12 kills and 13 digs while Kasey Hennecke (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn) also slammed 12 kills. Hennecke spiked a team-high 10 kills versus St. Joseph’s, with Nejman contributing six kills, nine digs and three blocks. Stephanie Warner (Totowa/ Passaic Valley) was named to the All-Tournament team.
