Dana Meyers

Boxscore
In its season opener, the Stockton field hockey team was edged by Manhattanville, 2-1.  Junior Dana Meyers (Upper Deerfield/Cumberland), primarily a defensive player the last two years, scored her first career goal for the Ospreys.  Meyers was a 2006 NJAC All-Conference Honorable Mention selection.  Freshman goalkeeper Debi O’Kane (Cologne/ Absegami) recorded 11 saves against Manhattanville in her first college game.

Stockton outshot Manhattanville 7-3 during the scoreless first half, but the Valiants took a 1-0 lead just 1:15 into the second half.  Less than six minutes later, Meyers poked a loose ball through a crowd of players and into the goal to pull the Ospreys into a 1-1 tie.  Manhattanville scored the game-winner on a well-placed penalty stroke into the top left corner of the cage with 22:12 to play in the match.  Stockton managed only two shots in the second half and suffered the 2-1 loss.
