Stockton Faces Tough Competition at Salisbury

Richard Stockton (17-7) faced its toughest competition of the season in the SU Tournament at Salisbury University. The Ospreys played close sets throughout the tourney, but they were unable to produce a victory. Freshman Nicole Serekian (Mahwan/Mahwah) was named to the All-Tournament Team after totaling 33 kills in four matches.

Stockton first was edged by Central (IA) in five sets 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12. Serekian tallied a career-high 15 kills, followed by Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) with 11 kills and six blocks. Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/ Catasauqua) added 22 assists and 22 digs. The tired Ospreys then fell to Nazareth (NY) in three sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-21. Hausman recorded 16 assists and nine digs while Velott totaled eight kills and 10 digs. Serekian contributed six kills in the match.

The next day, the Ospreys fell to tournament-host Salisbury in three close sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21. Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) slammed a team-high 11 kills while Warner finished with eight kills and six blocks. Hausman recorded 19 assists and 10 digs. Stockton wrapped up the tournament with a 25-14, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21 defeat to Cortland State (NY). Serekian and Kasey Hennecke (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn) notched eight kills apiece and Hausman added 19 assists and 15 digs.
