Top-seeded Richard Stockton (13-8-2) saw its season come to an end with a 3-2 defeat to fifth-seeded SUNY Brockport in double overtime in the ECAC Tournament semifinals. Leah Pocoroba (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and Jessica Balnis (Dorothy/Buena) scored goals in the second half for Stockton with assists by Rachel Carlson (MullicaTwp./Oakcrest) and Anita Lato (Rockaway/Morris Hills) respectively.

Brockport took the early lead with a goal on a corner kick just 2:43 after the opening kickoff, and Stockton trailed 1-0 at the half. Pocoroba poked home a pass from Carlson only 2:39 into the second half, scoring her team-high 16th goal of the season to pull the Ospreys into a 1-1 tie. Stockton took a 2-1 lead at 69:05 when Balnis tracked down a long boot from Lato and scored the fourth marker of her rookie year. Lato, also a freshman, notched her first career point with the assist.

Stockton’s slim lead held up for over 17 minutes before Brockport scored the tying goal with 3:49 left in regulation. Although the Ospreys outshot Brockport 6-2 in extra time, the Golden Eagles netted the game-winner 1:29 into the second OT and dealt Stockton the 3-2 defeat. Goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) stopped five shots in the match.

Seniors Pocoroba, Samantha Bean (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) and Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca) concluded stellar careers at Stockton with the outcome. The trio combined for 83 goals, 47 assists and six NJAC all-conference honors during their time in an Osprey uniform.
