Ashley Engel

Boxscore
The Stockton field hockey team was dominated 8-1 by 2006 NCAA Tournament qualifier King’s College.  Freshman Ashley Engel (Alloway/Woodstown) foiled the shutout with her first career goal on a penalty corner after time had expired.  Goalkeeper Debi O’Kane (Cologne/Absegami) made seven saves for the Ospreys and Samantha Horner (Newfield/Buena) was credited with eight of Stockton’s 22 shots in the game.

King’s scored twice in the first 12 minutes and added its third goal late in the first half for a 3-0 lead at intermission.  The Monarchs tacked on five markers in the second half for a commanding 8-0 advantage with less than five minutes to play.  Stockton received multiple penalty corners with no time on the clock and finally broke through for a goal as Engel swatted home a loose ball for her first tally at the college level.
