Stockton Women Fourth, Men Fifth at Thomson Invitational

Richard Stockton finished fourth out of 15 women’s teams and fifth out of 16 men’s teams in the Division II/III bracket of the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware. The Ospreys won three events at the meet.

Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) won the weight throw and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships at a distance of 16.49 meters that is ninth in the nation thus far.  Mitchell also broke her own school record by two feet.

Laura Warren (Bellmawr/Triton) won the women’s 3000m in 11:18.90 while Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) won the men’s triple jump and qualified for the ECAC Championships at a distance of 13.81 meters.

The 4x800 relay team of Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland), Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook), Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./Oakcrest) and Nikki Stratton (Stratford/Sterling) finished second and set a new school record (10:09.43). Evangelist also placed second in the 1000m (3:05.02).

The Stockton men’s team also fared well in the 4x800 relay. Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/ Atlantic City), James Maloney (South Brunswick/South Brunswick), John Burkhart (Vineland/Vineland) and Mitchell Berlin (Cherry Hill/CH West) finished third in the event (8:45.49).
