Stockton Teams Fare Well Against Division I Competition

Richard Stockton registered a number of strong performances in the John Covert Classic at Lehigh University despite being the only Division III team at the meet. Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) led the Ospreys by winning the 800m (2:21.44) and finishing second in the mile (5:25.06). Evangelist also set school records in both events.

Jim Osenenko (West Creek/Pinelands) broke the tape first in the 60m hurdles (8.56 seconds) while Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) cruised to victory in the 3000m (8:52.67), winning by 10 seconds.

Chris Collins (Manahawkin/Southern) registered a pair of second-place finishes, in the 60m dash (7.20 seconds) and 200m (23.00 seconds). Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/ Atlantic City) finished second in the weight throw (15.78m).

Meagan Simmons (Manahawkin/Southern) placed third in the women’s triple jump (10.38m) and Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) finished third in the men’s triple jump (14.03m). Collins, Sean Fitzgerald (Toms River/Msgr. Donovan), Kyle Prima (Toms River/TR North) and Charles Brown (Camden/Camden) captured third place in the 4x400 relay (3:41.60).
