Stockton Teams Each Place Fourth at NJAC Championships

The Richard Stockton men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams each finished fourth out of seven teams in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, which took place at New York Armory. The Ospreys won four events, two apiece in men’s and women’s competition.

Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) won the mile (5:03.78), finished second in the 800m (2:17.60) and ran a leg for the second-place 4x800 relay (9:46.73) while setting school records in all three events. Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/ Atlantic City) won the weight throw for the second straight year and set an NJAC meet record (15.93m).

For the Stockton men, Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) repeated as the NJAC champion in the 5000m while also setting school and meet records in the event (14:49.35). Ben Hammond (Williamstown/ Williamstown) won the triple jump and became an NCAA provisional qualifier (14.30m).

Chris Collins (Manahawkin/Southern) finished second in two events, the 55m (6.59 seconds) and 200m (22.66 seconds) while Jim Osenenko (West Creek/Pinelands) placed second in the 55m hurdles (8.01 seconds).

Amanda Williams (Williamstown/Williamstown) finished second in the high jump (1.53m) while Nikki Stratton (Stratford/Sterling), Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./Oakcrest) and Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook) joined Evangelist for second place in the 4x800 relay (9:46.73).
