Stockton Men 21st, Women 33rd at ECAC Championships

Richard Stockton finished 21st out of 53 men’s teams and 33rd out of 47 women’s teams in the ECAC Championships at New York Armory. The Ospreys earned team points in three men’s events and two women’s events against competition from throughout the Northeast.

Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) was the top finisher for Stockton, placing second in the triple jump and becoming an NCAA provisional qualifier (14.46m) with the 14th best jump in the nation. Jim Osenenko (West Creek/ Pinelands) finished seventh in the pentathlon (3152 points) and broke the school record.

Chris Collins (Manahawkin/Southern) placed eighth in the 55m dash (6.53 seconds) and snapped the 17-year old school record in the 200m (22.54) while finishing 12th out of 36 entrants. Abad Akhtar (Brigantine/Atlantic City) set a new school record in the mile (4:18.30) and placed 14th out of 31.

Mahogany Mitchell (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) placed fourth in the women’s weight throw and also notched and NCAA provisional qualifying effort (16.09m). The Osprey quartet of Nikki Stratton (Stratford/ Sterling), Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./Oakcrest), Katherine Rudy (Bound Brook/Bound Brook) and Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) set a school record and finished seventh in the 4x800 relay (9:40.19).
