The Stockton field hockey team fell to Swarthmore 5-1 in a non-conference road game. Samantha Horner (Newfield/ Buena), a 2006 NJAC All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, scored her first goal of the season to give the Ospreys an early 1-0 lead. Stockton goalie Debi O’Kane (Cologne/Absegami) recorded nine saves in the game.
After a Stockton penalty corner, Horner collected a loose ball and blasted a shot from just inside the top of the arc that found its way through traffic and into the cage for a 1-0 lead 15:53 into the game. Swarthmore scored its first goal less than four minutes later and took the lead for good with a marker on a penalty corner only 38 seconds before halftime. Despite five second-half saves by O’Kane, Swarthmore broke the game open with three goals after the break to defeat the Ospreys 5-1. |
