Stockton Edges FDU-Florham in Double-OT

Richard Stockton (1-0) went to double overtime on the road and came away with an season-opening victory as they downed FDU-Florham (0-1) 3-2. Kiera Hines (Deptford/ Deptford) scored the game-winner with just 2:04 remaining to give the Ospreys the win.

Dailey Todd (Millville/Millville) opened the scoring following a corner kick to give Stockton a 1-0 lead just 6:45 into the game. The Devils tied the match on a 25-yard shot by Claudia Falconieri and it remained that way at the half.

The Ospreys once again took a lead as Jessica Balnis (Dorothy/Buena) headed in a pass from Jacque Becker (Hamilton/Steinert) to give Stockton a 2-1 lead. The score would stay that way until FDU-Florham’s Samantha Messina knocked in a cross from Clare Donohue to send the match to the extra sessions. Hines then scored unassisted in the second extra period for the 3-2 Stockton victory.

Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) picked up her first win of the season, making four saves. Melanie Pierson played the first half in net for the Devils before giving way to Lauren Albrecht who suffered the loss. Albrecht made eight of the 10 saves by Devils’ goalies in the game.
