TWO STOCKTON FRESHMEN EARN NJAC WEEKLY HONORS

Richard Stockton freshman Ashley Gubista (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was named NJAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week and fellow freshman Sam Koropchak (West Milford/West Milford) was chosen NJAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week. Both players made impressive debuts in their first week of college sports.

Gubista earned NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors by aiding Stockton to a 4-2 record for the week. The libero led the team in digs with 122 for the six matches (5.55 dpg) and notched a career-high 28 digs in a five-set loss to Lebanon Valley on September 3.

Gubista reached double digits in digs in each match, including 20 or more three times, and led the Ospreys in five of the six contests.

Koropchak helped the Ospreys to a 7-2 victory over Division II Georgian Court on September 1 by winning matches in singles and doubles. The freshman posted her first career singles victory by a 7-5, 6-3 score and also teamed with Brittany Hall (Rancocas/Rancocas Valley) for an 8-4 win in doubles in Stockton’s season opener.
