STOCKTON DOMINATES JOHN JAY 5-0 IN HOME OPENER

Richard Stockton scored twice in the first 21 minutes and rolled to a 5-0 victory as the Ospreys played their home opener in the first round of the Stockton Seashore Classic.

Pat Rafferty (Brick/Christian Brothers Academy) led the attack with two goals and an assist while freshman Matt Jenne (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) scored his first career points with a goal and an assist.

Rafferty booted his first of the game at the 17:44 mark and Pat Langan (Hazlet/Raritan) recorded the assist. Rafferty then set up Clay Gashlin (Bayville/Central Regional) for his first goal of the season three minutes later to give Stockton a 2-0 lead. Just 40 seconds before halftime, Jenne scored his first career goal and fellow rookie Jaryd Ruff (Delran/Delran) collected his first college point with the assist.

The Ospreys started quickly in the second half as Rafferty netted his second marker of the game with assists by Jenne and Ben Gery (South Dennis/Wildwood Catholic) just over four minutes into the period. Ali Gocmez (Delran/Delran) closed the scoring with 9:27 remaining and Langan picked up his second assist on the play.

Stockton goalie Tim Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made two saves in the first half and Noah Morris (Brick/ Brick Twp.) contributed one stop in the second stanza to close out the combined shutout in the 5-0 Stockton victory. The Ospreys outshot John Jay 23-4 and Bloodhounds’ keeper Vitecha Kochaon finished with 11 saves.
