Pat Langan

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (4-1) gained a measure of revenge as they defeated Johns Hopkins (1-2-1) 1-0 for their third straight win. The Blue Jays knocked the Ospreys out of the NCAA Tournament last season by a 3-2 score in overtime.

Pat Langan (Hazlet/Raritan) scored from in front of the net on a deflection with an assist by Pat Rafferty (Brick/ Christian Brothers Academy) for the only goal of the contest. Sal Pistone’s (Blackwood/ Highland) free kick from near midfield set up the play. Langan tallied with just 6:22 remaining in regulation. Rafferty’s assist gave him at least one point in four of the five Osprey contests this season.

Johns Hopkins controlled the majority of the play during the contest as they squeezed off 11 shots to five for Stockton. The closest the Blue Jays came to scoring was on a blast from Sean Coleman that hit the cross bar with 18:30 left in the second half.

Tim Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) earned his second shutout of the season making just one save. John Belanger took the loss for Johns Hopkins. The contest was the nightcap of the 2011 Seashore Classic. The first game saw TCNJ defeat John Jay 3-2.
