 Field Hockey (9/20/11)

Liz Stankiewicz

The College of New Jersey (5-1, 2-0 NJAC) proved why they are ranked 10th in the nation by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, overwhelming Richard Stockton (4-3, 0-2) 10-0 in an NJAC game. Alex Okuniewicz and Camille Passucci led the Lions with three goals apiece.

Christy Wham added a goal and three assists while Caitlyn Jenkins chipped in a goal and two helpers. Lauren Pigott and Erin Healy also scored one goal apiece for the Lions.

With TCNJ already leading 2-0, Pigott struck to ignite an outburst of three goals in the last five minutes of the first half for a 5-0 advantage.

Wham added to the lead just 2:35 into the second half and Passucci followed with two straight goals to complete her hat trick. After Healy found the back of the net, Okuniewicz finished off her hat trick, capping a spree of three TCNJ goals in a span of 4:06 with the Lions 10th and final tally of the night.

TCNJ goalkeeper Shannon Syciarz made five saves in 66:21 and Amanda Krause played the last 3:39 without facing a shot to close the shutout. Stockton starter Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp./Freehold Twp.) made six saves in 52:40 and Taylor Snyder (Marlton/ Cherokee) contributed one stop in the final 17:20 of the game.
