Pat Rafferty

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (5-2-1, 0-1-1 NJAC) scored with 1:01 remaining in regulation and forged a 1-1 tie with The College of New Jersey (3-3-1, 0-1-1 NJAC) on Tuesday evening. It was the second consecutive year the two teams have fought to a 1-1 draw.

Luigi Moriello gave the Lions a 1-0 lead at the 35:43 mark of the first half as he converted a nice pass from Kevin Shaw. Shaw drove around the Ospreys defense and fed Moriello for the tally.

The score stayed that way until Pat Rafferty (Brick/Christian Brothers Academy) scored his sixth marker of the season after picking up a loose ball in front of the Lions net for the tying goal. The play started with a corner kick and after many touches, the ball found its way to Rafferty who buried it. The teams played both overtimes with both teams getting off five shots combined.

Stockton goalkeeper Tim Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made seven saves in his first tie of the season. Lions’ goalie Matt Fredrick kicked out three shots.
