STOCKTON SPLITS TWO MATCHES AT NYU TOURNEY

Richard Stockton (10-3) split its two matches on the first day of the NYU Violet Classic. The Ospreys started with a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of Gettysburg in three close sets for their sixth consecutive win.

Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) led Stockton with seven kills and 14 digs. Nicole Serekian (Mahwah/ Mahwah) added seven kills and Kasey Hennecke (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn) chipped in with six kills and six digs.

Stockton’s winning streak came to an end in the second match of the day as Eastern University, ranked fifth in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, defeated the Ospreys 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.

Serekian paced Stockton with 11 kills and Velott contributed five kills and eight digs. Hennecke finished with five kills and four digs. Eastern also knocked Stockton out of the NCAA Tournament in the first round last year.
