STEPHANIE WARNER EARNS NJAC WEEKLY HONOR

Richard Stockton junior Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) was named the NJAC Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts as she helped lead Stockton to a 4-2 week.

Warner also helped extend the Ospreys’ winning streak at home to 13 and their NJAC streak to 14 consecutive wins with a victory over Ramapo on Thursday night. The Ospreys now are 11-4 on the season.

Warner led Stockton with a.473 hitting percentage, 18 blocks and 11 aces for the week, all team highs. The middle hitter leads the NJAC in hitting percentage (.487) and ranks second in the league in blocks (0.82) and sixth in kills (2.39 kps). Her hitting percentage is tops for Stockton, which has five of the top six hitters in the conference.

Warner’s best day of the week came on Saturday at the NYU Violet Classic. She recorded 12 kills, eight digs, six aces and two blocks in a win over Hunter and then followed with a career-high 18 kills against NYU. Warner’s consistency has made her one of the foremost players in the NJAC this season, and she ranked first in the NCAA in hitting percentage through matches of September 18.

Only a junior, Warner already has 2010 AVCA Honorable Mention All-America and AVCA All-New York Region honors to her credit as well as two NJAC All-Conference First Team nods. Stockton will put its home court and NJAC winning streaks on the line when the Ospreys host William Paterson on September 29 at 7 pm.
