STOCKTON EXTENDS NJAC & HOME WIN STREAKS

Richard Stockton (12-4, 4-0 NJAC) kept two streaks alive on Thursday night as the Ospreys defeated William Paterson (11-2, 2-1 NJAC) 25-13, 25-15, 25-15. With the victory, Stockton has now won 14 straight matches at home and 16 consecutive against NJAC opponents. 

In the opening set, Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) led Stockton to the 25-13 win with four kills while Kasey Hennecke (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn), Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) and Nicole Serekian (Mahwah/ Mahwah) added three apiece.

In the second set, Serekian slammed six more of her match-high 11 kills and Hennecke chipped in with four more. Hennecke finished with 10 kills for the night, giving the Ospreys a balanced attack.

The third set saw the Pioneers claw their way to a 14-14 tie before the Ospreys put the match away with an 11-1 run to end it. Warner’s four kills led the way as Stockton pulled away for the victory. Warner ended with 10 kills and a team-high four blocks on the night. Kim Runge paced William Paterson with five kills in the final set.

Stockton setter Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/Catasauqua) had 24 assists while Mayan Alvarado (Gainesville, FL/P.K. Yonge) chipped in with 14 more for the Ospreys. Ashley Gubista (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) led the defense with 18 digs while Hausman and Velott dug out 11 each.

For the Pioneers, Runge led the way with seven kills and chipped in with 11 digs. Liz Dykhouse had eight assists while teammate Michelle Mitchell had a team-high 15 digs. Megan Maher added 11 digs to the team total of 46.
