STOCKTON FALLS TO WILLIAM PATERSON 2-0

Liz Stankiewicz

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (5-4, 0-3 NJAC) took to the road in search of its first conference victory of the season but instead suffered a 2-0 defeat to William Paterson (2-8, 1-2).

Stockton goalkeeper Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp./ Freehold Twp.) finished with five saves but the Ospreys were shut out for the third time this season. Two of the blanks came against ranked opponents Rowan and College of New Jersey though.

William Paterson scored both goals in the last five minutes of the first half. Lauren Boegly gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead with 4:31 remaining in the period. Just four seconds before halftime, Taylor Clayton added an insurance goal for WPU.

Neither team generated much offense in the contest. William Paterson outshot Stockton 8-5, with Megan Irving (Oaklyn/Collingswood) and Alicia Leadbeater (Franklinville/Delsea) recording two shots apiece for the Ospreys. Stockton held a slim 6-5 edge in penalty corners but was unable to capitalize on any of its opportunities in the 2-0 defeat.
