STOCKTON FALLS 2-0 AT ALVERNIA

Tim Brett

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (7-4-1) kicked off a busy stretch of three games in five days with a road trip to Alvernia (8-2-1), where the Ospreys suffered a 2-0 setback in a non-conference tilt.

The match saw each team finish with eight shots and three corner kicks. Stockton goalkeeper Tim Brett (Palmyra/ Palmyra) made three saves to keep his team close.

Alvernia’s two goals came in a span of less than six minutes of play with halftime sandwiched in between. Alex Martyn got the Crusaders on the board with just 2:04 remaining in the first half. David McEwen added an insurance goal for Alvernia 3:30 into the second half for a 2-0 score.

Ali Gocmez (Delran/Delran) and Clay Gashlin (Bayville/Central Regional) each registered a shot on goal for Stockton in the second half, but both attempts were denied by Alvernia goalie Ben Diller for his only two saves of the contest. Stockton was shut out for just the second time all season, with both blankings coming in the last three games.
