STOCKTON WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT MATCH

Richard Stockton (17-5, 6-0 NJAC) extended three winning streaks on Senior Night. The Ospreys defeated Rutgers-Newark (4-15, 2-3 NJAC) 25-13, 25-13, 25-8, to run their NJAC streak to 18 consecutive wins and their home winning streak to 15 straight with their fourth win in a row overall.

Osprey seniors Nicole Ober (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East), Cynthia Twarowski (Marlton/Cherokee), Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown), Tabitha Nejman (Runnemede/ Our Lady of Mercy) and Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/ Catasauqua) were honored before the match.

In the opening set, Stockton raced out to an 11-1 lead before putting away the Scarlet Raptors. Velott had five of her match-high 11 kills in the set. In the second set, Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) and Velott had four kills apiece as the Ospreys used an 11-0 run to pull away. The third set saw Stockton jump out to another 11-1 lead and Velott and Warner slam two kills apiece.

Hausman dished out a match-high 22 assists while freshman libero Ashley Gubista (Massapequa, NY/ Massapequa) tallied 18 digs. Ober dug out eight shots of her own as the Ospreys had 53 digs on the night. Warner led all players with seven blocks.

The Scarlet Raiders’ Jen Mendoza registered 10 digs and 10 assists while teammate Paulina Walega had 11 digs. Rachel Witt finished with team highs of four kills and two blocks.
