Boxscore

Richard Stockton (10-5-3, 4-3 NJAC) extended their unbeaten streak to five consecutive matches (4-0-1) with a 2-1 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy (5-9-3) on Saturday afternoon.

The Ospreys had plenty of scoring opportunities as they outshot Gwynedd-Mercy by a 29-5 margin and snapped the Griffins’ four-game unbeaten run.

Brianna DeStefano (Williamstown/Williamstown) started the scoring with 35:25 gone by hitting the net on a pass from Jessica Balnis (Dorothy/Buena), and the goal gave Stockton a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Griffins tied the game with just under 35 minutes remaining on a Kirstyn Varas shot that eluded the Ospreys and found its way to the net. After Rachel Carlson (Mullica Twp./ Oakcrest) was fouled in the box, Jess McQuillen (Tabernacle/Seneca) converted the penalty kick at the 67:38 mark for the game-winning goal that gave Stockton the 2-1 win.

Stockton goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/Paul VI) earned the victory by making two saves. Abby Reed kicked out 11 Osprey shots for Gwynedd-Mercy in defeat.

Stockton seniors DeStefano, Ashley Battilana (West Deptford/West Deptford), Lindsay Garbowski (Voorhees/Eastern), Melissa Eiding (Shamong/Seneca), Brittany Bannister (Williamstown/Williamstown) and Jamie Scully (Blackwood/Highland) were honored before the contest as the Ospreys played their last regular-season home game.
