Lou Herring

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (9-6-3, 2-3-2) moved one step closer to securing an NJAC playoff berth with a 0-0 tie in a conference game at Montclair State. Lou Herring (Freehold/Freehold) made two saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Ospreys held a large 11-4 advantage in corner kicks. Montclair State finished with a slight 17-16 edge in shots but Stockton notched more shots on goal by an 8-2 margin.

Both teams generated chances throughout regulation and nearly won the match in the second overtime. Herring made his best stop of the night by punching a shot from just five yards away over the crossbar early in double-OT.

Stockton attempted four corner kicks late in the second overtime and came closest on a header by Pat Rafferty (Brick/Christian Brothers Academy) that went just wide and a cross to the far post by Brian Thomsen (Brick/Msgr. Donovan) that his Stockton teammates were unable to reach. The Ospreys played their third straight overtime game and seventh of the season overall.
