Megan Irving

Boxscore

Richard Stockton (8-7) nearly rallied from a three-goal deficit but came up just short in a 3-2 defeat to Drew University (11-7). Alicia Leadbeater (Franklinville/Delsea) and Megan Irving (Oaklyn/Collingswood) scored one goal apiece.

All five goals in the game were scored in 14-minute span of the second half. Prior to that, the teams played a scoreless first stanza in which Drew outshot the Ospreys 9-4.

The Rangers struck quickly after the break as Angela Terracciano, Sarah Charles and Melissa Boyd all tallied goals in a span of just under three minutes.

Stockton regrouped from the onslaught and got on the board at the 56:19 mark as Leadbeater broke through the Drew defense and scored her eighth goal of the season. Only 3:43 later, Irving buried a rebound for her third marker of the year and the Ospreys were within 3-2 with 9:58 remaining. Drew halted Stockton’s comeback bid the rest of the way to deal the Ospreys the one-goal defeat.

Stockton goaltender Liz Stankiewicz (Freehold Twp./Freehold Twp.) finished with seven saves and Nikki Moore (Island Hts./Central Regional) chipped in with a defensive save for the Ospreys.
