SIX OSPREYS RECEIVE NJAC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

For the second year in a row, six members of the Richard Stockton women’s soccer team have earned all-conference honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Three of the Ospreys were repeat selections as NJAC all-conference.

Leading the way was junior midfielder Jess McQuillen (Tabernacle/Seneca) who was named to the NJAC Second Team for the second consecutive season.

McQuillen has scored five goals and totaled 13 points which ties her for second on the Ospreys in both categories.She also has added three assists, which ties her for team-high honors. Two of McQuillen’s goals have been game-winners.

Five Ospreys were named as NJAC Honorable Mention selections. Senior back Ashley Battilana (West Deptford/West Deptford) was selected to her third straight all-conference team.

Battliana was an NJAC Honorable Mention pick in 2010 and an NJAC Second Team selection in 2009. She has started every game for which she has been in uniform over the past four years, a total of 85 matches.

Senior back Melissa Eiding (Shamong/Seneca) made her second straight appearance on the NJAC all-conference squad after she was a 2010 NJAC Second Team selection.

Battilana and Eiding have helped the Stockton defense post a 1.03 goals against average and nine shutouts this season. The team’s nine shutouts are tied for second in the league.

Sophomore back Lauren McCutcheon (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.), sophomore midfielder Leah Braidi (Vineland/Sacred Heart) and sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle (Mullica Hill/ Paul VI) each earned all-conference honors for the first time with their NJAC Honorable Mention selections.

McCutcheon has been a steady force on defense for Stockton and also has one assist this season. Braidi has recovered from a knee injury that cut her rookie year short after 10 games to score two goals this season, including one game-winning tally. Hinkle has had an outstanding year in goal, posting a 1.10 goals against average and six shutouts. She also has made 83 saves and played the most minutes of any goalkeeper in the league.
