Ashley Gubista

Three Richard Stockton players earned All-New York Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) and Nicole Serekian (Mahwah/ Mahwah) were named to the AVCA All-New York Region Team.

Freshman Ashley Gubista (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was named All-New York Region Honorable Mention. It was the second straight honor for Warner, with Serekian and Gubista being selected for the first time.

Warner led the NJAC in hitting percentage (.468) this season and also led the nation in the category as of the most recent NCAA statistics report on October 30. The junior was named NJAC Player of the Week on three separate occasions and was honored as the NJAC Player of the Year for 2011.

Warner also earned NJAC First Team honors for the third straight year and became the sixth Osprey to be honored with an NJAC Player of the Year nod. In addition to leading the league in hitting percentage, she finished second in the conference in blocks (0.83 bps) and sixth in kills (2.48 kps).

Serekian, a sophomore, finished second to Warner in the NJAC in hitting percentage (.322) and led the Ospreys in kills (3.21 kps), finishing third in the conference in that category.

Serekian also was named to the NJAC First Team this season after being named NJAC Rookie of the Year and NJAC Honorable Mention in 2010.

Gubista led the team in digs (5.12 dps) and helped Stockton lead the league in that category. The freshman libero was a vital cog in Stockton’s fourth straight NJAC championship as the team’s defensive leader in the back row. Gubista was named NJAC Rookie of the Week five times and NJAC Defensive Player of the Week once this season.
