WARNER NAMED ALL-AMERICAN; SEREKIAN HON. MENTION

Stephanie Warner
Nicole Serekian

Richard Stockton junior Stephanie Warner (Totowa/Passaic Valley) capped her outstanding season with selection as a Second Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In addition, sophomore Nicole Serekian (Mahwah/Mahwah) was voted AVCA Honorable Mention All-America.

Warner is the first Stockton player ever selected to the one of the AVCA All-America teams, excluding Honorable Mention. The Ospreys’ middle hitter was elevated to the All-America Second Team after earning Honorable Mention All-America honors from the AVCA last year.

Earlier this month, Warner was named All-New York Region for the second straight time. She was chosen NJAC Player of the Year and collected her third consecutive NJAC First Team nod after leading Stockton to its fourth straight league championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Warner leads the nation in hitting percentage (.468) and finished as the NJAC leader in the category. The junior also ended the season second in the conference in blocks (0.83 bps) and sixth in kills (2.48 kps). Warner was named NJAC Player of the Week on three separate occasions in 2011.

Serekian finished second to Warner in the NJAC in hitting percentage (.322) while leading the Ospreys and ranking third in the league in kills (3.21 kps).

The right-side hitter was named to the NJAC First Team this season after being named NJAC Rookie of the Year and NJAC Honorable Mention in 2010. Serekian also was named to the AVCA All-New York Region Team last week.
