JESS McQUILLEN NAMED ALL-REGION IN WOMEN’S SOCCER

Richard Stockton junior Jess McQuillen (Tabernacle/ Seneca) was named to the All-South Atlantic Region Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

McQuillen helped lead the Ospreys to a 15-7-4 record with nine goals and a team-high six assists for 24 points. She started all 26 games and finished second on the team in goals and points.

McQuillen added her first all-region honor to a resume that includes NJAC All-Conference Second Team selections in 2010 and 2011. The midfielder finished among the league’s top scorers, ranking ninth in the NJAC in points and tying for ninth in goals and assists. McQuillen was named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week on November 7 as well.

McQuillen scored just one goal in the first nine games before coming on strong with eight tallies and six assists in the last two-thirds of the season. She broke loose on September 24 with two goals and an assist including the game-winning marker in overtime that gave the Ospreys a 4-3 win over William Paterson.

McQuillen provided her biggest highlight on November 1 as she scored three goals and dished an assist in a 21-minute span to lead Stockton back from a 2-0 deficit to a 4-3 upset of #21 Rowan in the NJAC tournament semifinals.

McQuillen, who joined the Ospreys last year after one season at Burlington County College, tied for team lead with four game-winning goals in 2011. Seven of the 14 goals the she has scored in two years at Stockton have been game-winners.
