BILL McDONOUGH NAMED NJAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Richard Stockton junior Bill McDonough (Spring Lake/St. Rose) was chosen as the NJAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week today.

McDonough led the Ospreys to a pair of conference victories last week by averaging a double-double of 20.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. The wins extended Stockton’s streak to four straight and improved the team’s record to 12-6 overall (6-1 NJAC).

McDonough began the week with game highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Ospreys back from a 16-point deficit to a 63-54 triumph at Rowan on January 18.

The six-foot-seven forward followed with another double-double, his sixth of the season, in a 90-79 win over Ramapo on Saturday. McDonough shot 7-11 from the floor (63.6%) and finished with 20 points and a game-high 13 rebounds against the Roadrunners.

McDonough currently ranks third in the NJAC in rebounds (8.6 rpg), seventh in steals (1.7 spg) and 10th in scoring (13.4 ppg). The junior is the first Stockton men’s basketball player to earn an NJAC weekly award this season. McDonough is in his first year with the Ospreys after previously playing two seasons at Brookdale Community College from 2008-10.
