OSPREYS WIN SEASON OPENER OVER NEUMANN

Richard Stockton (1-0) opened the 2012 season with a solid 14-10 victory at home over Neumann University (1-1). Stockton never trailed in the match, outshooting the Knights 49-34.

The Ospreys jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after the first period on a pair of goals by Drew Wright (Wallingford, PA/ Strath Haven) and the first career goal by freshman Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/ North Hunterdon).

Four more tallies in the second quarter put Stockton up 7-3 at the break. Nick and Matt Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) both scored while Dave Soule (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) added two of his game-high seven goals.

In the third quarter, two more Osprey goals, one each by Matt Bologno and Soule, offset Knights’ goals by Ryan O’Kane and Sam Maldou, giving Stockton a 9-5 advantage after the third period.

The scoring opened up in the final stanza as both teams combined for 10 goals. Soule hit the net four times with Matt Bologno scoring his third of the night. Neumann tallied the final three goals, including two by Maldou to close out the scoring in the 14-10 Stockton triumph.

Soule’s game-high seven tallies were supported by Matt Bologno with three goals and an assist. In addition to his first two career scores, Nick Bologno also recorded his first two assists of his career as well.

Goalkeeper Tim Wolcott (Toms River/Toms River North) made 10 saves for Stockton, picking up the victory. Andrew Neubauer kicked out 18 shots for Neumann.
